What you’ll build
The two 65⅛″ side rails have 10° angled cuts. Four 13½″ 1x3 rungs fit between them at evenly spaced layout marks. With only six parts and three assembly steps, it is one of the quickest builds in the TimberLab catalog.
Shopping list
Buy these boards. The list fits every cut onto standard lengths and leaves ⅛″ for each saw cut and ¼″ for trimming board ends.
| Lumber | Length | Qty |
|---|---|---|
| 2x3 | 8 ft | 2 |
| 1x3 | 8 ft | 1 |
Cut list
Every part, grouped so you can cut matching pieces together. Sizes are actual dimensions (a 1x4 is ¾″ × 3½″). Check them against your own boards before cutting.
| Part | Lumber | Section | Length | Qty | End cut |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rung | 1x3 | ¾″ × 2 ½″ | 13 ½″ | 4 | Square |

Step-by-step instructions
Place the left side rail
Lay the 65 1/8-inch left side rail flat on your work surface with its beveled floor end facing down. Position the rail so the inner face points toward your work area as the primary layout baseline.

Align the four rungs
Position the four 13 1/2-inch rungs perpendicular against the inner face of the left rail at your layout marks, starting from the bottom rung. Keep the front faces of each rung flush with the rail face.

Fit the right side rail
Align the 65 1/8-inch right side rail against the opposite ends of the four rungs, matching the orientation of the left rail. Clamp across both rails to hold the ladder assembly flat and square.

A leaning ladder can slide. Add rubber pads to the feet, and use it for blankets and towels, never for climbing.
Change the size or design
This plan is one of the projects in the TimberLab app’s catalog. In the app you can turn the model in 3D, follow the assembly steps one part at a time, and ask for changes in plain words, such as “make it 6 inches shorter” or “add a shelf”. The cut list and shopping list update to match the new design.
Questions about this plan
How much lumber do I need to build this blanket ladder?
The shopping list calls for 2 × 2x3 at 8 ft; 1 × 1x3 at 8 ft. It groups every cut onto standard board lengths and leaves room for saw cuts and trimming the board ends.
How big is the finished blanket ladder?
It is 18 ½″ wide, 64 ⅛″ tall, and 12 ¾″ deep.
What tools do I need?
You need a tape measure, pencil, speed square, eye & ear protection, drill, miter saw, clamps, sander.
Can I change the size of this blanket ladder?
Yes. Open the blanket ladder in the TimberLab app and describe the change in plain words, such as “make it 6 inches shorter”. The 3D model, cut list, and shopping list update together.
